We are committed to making a difference for our community by helping children who are affected by sick family members. Camp Kesem, currently celebrating their 11th year of making a difference, works to comfort children aged six to sixteen who have parents battling cancer.
Camp Kesem operates over 70 free summer camps in 33 states, helping to protect and restore our nation’s youth. The camping experience helps provide children with a peer-support network, allowing each other to support their unique needs and strengthen. With the help of college student leaders, Camp Kesem is able to help build confidence and create a community full of support. The Berkeley chapter is home to one of the oldest and biggest chapters nationwide with many counselors who have experienced the same tragedy. “It is unbelievable what these college students are able to do for children nationwide, right here in Berkeley. I am both inspired and astonished by the difference they are able to make.”
In 2015, Camp Kesem was able to help over 5,000 children nationwide to help build confidence and restore a typical childhood with a free camp experience. Camp Kesem’s Berkeley chapter has a total fundraising goal for this year is $180,000 for 225 campers. With the help of your recommendation, we hope to help support their dream to make a difference for even more youths.
