Peggy and Richard Smith, co-owners of the California-based Smith Insurance Agencies, are commencing a charity campaign to help provide a summer camp experience for 70 children affected by sick family members. Donations gathered during the campaign will be used to fund Camp Kesem, a regional program that gives kids the opportunity to create peer support networks and build confidence.
“It is unbelievable what these college students are able to do for children nationwide, right here in Berkeley. I am both inspired and astonished by the difference they are able to make,” said Peggy Smith.
Integral to the campaign will be a referral system to help generate donations for Camp Kesem. The Smith team has pledged to issue a $10 donation to Camp Kesem for every person referred in to receive a no obligation insurance appraisal during the charity drive.
